St. Thomas More eyes $4 million expansionSt. Thomas More Catholic School is in the midst of a $4 million fund-raising campaign to renovate the nearly 50-year-old school. School officials say they have received donations or pledges for about 45% of the money needed for the renovations; STM hopes to get $3 million by mid-November in order to start construction in the spring. The work will involve making major renovations to the fifth and sixth grades' building; creating a central, secure common area; building a new library, a junior high science laboratory and a music room; and doing renovations to student service areas, such as the resource room. Judy Armstrong, STM principal, says portions of the school buildings haven't been renovated since the 1960s. "We want to give the students the greatest curriculum, facilities and environment for them to succeed now and many years into the future," says Armstrong.
